Another one for all the spaniel lovers out there!
I do love painting smiley faces, I find myself smiling back at them as I work.
My beautiful model for this portrait was young Shelby and I played around with quite a few background colours until I landed on this rich brown tone to compliment his eyes.
I was asked to remove the harness he was wearing in the chosen photo, fortunately I had been given extra photos to reference where he was not wearing it, this was really helpful especially when it came to drawing the markings on his chest.
Whilst the last post showed one of my ‘quick portraits’, this piece is a ‘standard portrait’. I strive to capture an accurate likeness in all my art, no matter which option you choose, however the main difference between them is how long they take, hence the name!
