My blog is now 15 years old, can you believe it? Back in May 2011 I put up my first post and although I’ve taken a few breaks I’m so glad I decided to give it a go all those years ago. I’m proud of how far this little business of mine has come, and can’t wait to see what the next 15 years bring!

To celebrate this anniversary, I’m sharing a portrait of one of my favourite animals. I’ve rescued a lot of fancy rats over the decades and they hold a special place in my heart, so I was excited to create this portrait for a fellow rat fan. Sadly these gorgeous boys are no longer with us, rats’ lives really are too short, however now they have been immortalised in this memorial painting.
I love the composition so much, it really was the perfect reference photograph and the white of the paper really makes them stand out. The original image had bars obscuring parts of Joe and Oli, fortunately my client had a second photo from a slightly different position that I could use to fill the gaps.
