Inspired

“Hello” I hope you have been well? So, new blog name, title image…thingy – what do you think? Thought it was time for a change as I am finally able to get things done after a time of coldy/achey/dizzy horridness.  This seems to have passed, leaving me feeling much more active and needing to make up…

Rainy day…or was it?

Well, today turned out rather different to what I had planned… I loved visiting the Wildlife Heritage Foundation so much a while back, that when I saw they had an Open Day I was of course overjoyed! This was the sunshine during my last visit All morning I was checking the weather forecast, getting increasingly…

Smudges & Stars

Firstly, I have been getting back to my usual messy self, with pastelly fingers and brand new smudges on my well-worn apron. It’s great to have portraits to work on – they certainly keep me busy! Secondly, I have some fun things coming up over the next few months, that I can’t wait to tell…

Taking a break to bake some cakes

I have not been blogging much recently due to my sudden urge to start baking again… I love making cupcakes, but when I do, they sort of take over my life for a while…. I always plan to carefully decorate each one to make them look super special…. But every time, I get impatient and…

Sunshine

Today I am taking a break from my arty things, mostly due to the crazy weather I’ve woken up to! Instead, I have been busy taking photos out in the glorious sunshine, so that I  can look back at them and remind myself that we did once have a day without clouds… Our lurcher on…

Medieval Merriment

I’m back! Did you miss me? 😉 I’m finally at my laptop again, indoors & out of the rain at last. Yesterday was spent sliding around in muddy wellies, exploring the Robin Hood country show, camera in hand. I had a wonderful time, lots of new portrait ideas after seeing the vast array of dogs,…

Books

Each time I take a break from working on new portraits, I have been studying the latest addition to my bookshelf – ‘A Cat’s Life!’ (Photographs by Jane Burton) Its a truly wonderful book & the first thing I loved was its size; proper big images for me to admire, certainly worth being weighed down…

Time for a weekend

Well, I’ve been in the house pretty much all day seeing as Wiley sulks when I walk him in the rain/wind, so it was a swift journey around the woods before being dragged home again – honestly, he really is a lazy thing, but we love him for it ^_^ At least this gave me…

Say “cheese”

I have a collection of cameras in my house from over the years, including one bridge camera, some little compact digitals, a couple of classic SLRs and my Polaroid (that I have no idea how to get working, so is mostly just for show). Then there is the Digital SLR, probably my favourite for portraits,…

Some time away from the easle

Mother’s day preparations have taken over my arty life at the moment – most days involve me being up to my eyes in crafting bits ‘n’ bobs, trying not to superglue my fingers together I’m sure I’ll be back to drawing after next week, but for now I can’t even see my desk because of…

Feathered Friend Finished (Nearly!)

OK, almost at the end of another portrait, but I couldn’t resist posting an update before adding the finishing touches There should be photographic evidence up on the site before the week is out, so look out for a Macaw perched in the gallery very soon x

Fair Planning

I am now back to working on my craft fair stall, as I shall be popping up at a few shows in the not-too-distant future This makes me happy as I get to play around with colour schemes and props, whilst sketching out my ideas The snow is a good excuse to stay snuggled up…

January Summary

January this year has been lovely Attending my second Arts and Crafts Fair was very enjoyable; thanks to all of you who came along to the Hullbridge Community Centre on Sunday, it was a lovely show with lots of great stalls, and even the freezing weather didn’t dampen spirits I have recently finished this portrait,…

Belated New Year Update

No resolutions for me this year, I can never keep them… BUT, I do have a lot of things planned for the next few weeks, and I am sure they will be great fun 🙂 One portrait is coming to an end, and another is about to start, perfect! For now, enjoy your January, and…

Festive feelings

December is nearly here, so I’m sure a theme will begin to emerge in my work over the next few weeks – bring on the fairylights and glitter! Time to make cards for friends and family, whilst wrapping presents with lots of ribbons and sparkly bows Have a wonderful December x

The little things

OK, it is time to stop worrying about what might/should/could happen now or in the future I am learning to appreciate the amazing life I have right here, right now Today’s little thing: Sitting with my best (furry) buddy Wiley and hugging him for what seemed like hours, while he fell asleep on my lap….

A great day out

I had a wonderful time at the bazaar, and it was great to see Purdey’s portrait go to a good home ^_^ Thank you to everyone who came along, and I look forward to the next show!   Take care   x
