For this portrait I was given such a fun reference photo and I’m immensely pleased with how the finished painting turned out.
Small dog, big personality
Max looks so delighted to be sat at the table with his family and I wanted to capture that joy. The part I thought I would find most challenging was the beer glass, since I’m usually more comfortable painting animals than objects, especially glass/liquids. However, it wasn’t as tough as I feared and I love the way the light makes the drink almost glow, as well as the texture of the foamy parts clinging to the glass.
