Welcome back to my journal!
I do enjoy designing these, its fun to try out different layouts and styles without having to commit to gluing photos into a real scrapbook.
This week I took many photos in the woods since it was wonderfully sunny and frosty, leading to some interesting shots – I especially love when the sun makes leaves glow.
When I wasn’t out in nature, I was working on my latest digital dog portrait commission and having a clear out of my studio. I realised I had a lot of art supplies, some might say too many, that I’ve collected over the literal decades that I’ve spent making art so it was about time I streamlined my collection. This meant testing pretty much every single pen and pencil I could find, leading to a very colourful swatch sheet; if some pencils didn’t feel nice to colour with, or I had too many of one colour, they were put away into storage, leaving me with a nice set of painting and drawing tools that I really enjoy using.
This whole process started because I picked up an amazing second-hand organiser, that just so happens to fit perfectly on my shelves, and I was sad because I couldn’t fit all my supplies inside…
Thank you for reading, I hope your year has got off to a great start and I look forward to writing for you again soon.
